Public Health and Nutrition There is some evidence to suggest that exposure to airborne fungal products may be associated with adverse health effects, for example, respiratory tract infections.41 A random sample of Canadian elementary schools was obtained and the following data was obtained for each: mesophilic fungi (y, in cfu/m3), building age (x1, in years), air exchange rate (x2, per hour), indoor CO2 (x3, ppm), outdoor temperature (x4, °C), and a dummy variable, signs of moisture in the room (x5, 0 for no signs, 1 for signs).
a. Estimate the regression coefficients in the model
b. Determine the most important predictor variables. Find the estimated regression line for this reduced model.
c. Use the sign of each estimated regression coefficient in the reduced model to explain the effect of each predictor variable on the volume of mesophilic fungi.
d. Check the relevant assumptions for the reduced model.
