Public Policy and Political Science In a global study by Transparency International, it was found that a country’s environmental performance is related to political corruption. A random sample of 15 countries was selected. The Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI, x), a measure of perceived corruption among public officials and politicians, was computed for each country. In addition, the Environmental Sustainability Index (ESI, y), a measure of overall progress toward environmental sustainability, was computed for each country. The estimated regression line was y = 26.432 + 4.546x, with SSR = 853.50, SSE = 1234.23, = 5.4333, and Sxx = 41.2933.
a. Complete the ANOVA summary table, and conduct an F test for a significant regression. Explain the relationship between CPI and ESI.
b. Find an estimate of the observed ESI for a CPI score of 6.7.
c. Find a 95% prediction interval for an observed ESI if the CPI is 8.2. Based on this interval, do you think a randomly selected country with CPI 8.2 will have an ESI of 90 or greater? Justify your answer.
