1. As an entry level project controls person, you are asked to determine the duration (in days) and cost of a work package consisting of removal of a 5 in. thick asphalt pavement from a parking lot. The parking lot is rectangular, 50 yards by 30 yards. Your historical records indicate that using the crew shown in Table 1 you can remove 690 SY in day. Based on this information answer the following questions; a. How many labor hours do you need to remove 1 SY of asphalt paving? b. What is the bare labor cost per unit removal of asphalt? C. What is the bare equipment cost per unit removal of asphalt? d. Keeping in mind that there is no material cost for this demolition work, what would be the cost and duration (in days) of removing the asphalt pavement on this parking lot? At the end of your calculations, your supervisor made some modifications to the crew you were using and gave you the information shown in Table 2. What is your new estimate of cost and duration?(assume same number of people in the crew after modification) Assuming total cost of dumping the waste material to a landfill 20 miles away using 10 CY trucks costs $150 per truck. How much will it cost to get rid of all the asphalt waste? e. f. Table 1. Pavement demolition crew Bare Cost Hr.
