You and your college roommate are planning to start a custom
cookie baking company. The idea is to bake fresh cookies to order,
in your apartment, using any combination of cookies that the
customer wants. The cookies will be ready for pickup within an
hour. Cookies will be completely fresh, and you have a variety of
ingredients available to add to the basic dough, things such as
chocolate chips, chopped nuts, M&M’s, raisins, etc. Orders come
in either through the phone or email and need to be logged into
your system. This takes a minute per order. (Cookies can be ordered
by the dozen only). For each dozen cookies, the batter and
ingredients must be put into a mixing bowl and mixed (five minutes
per dozen). Cookies must be put onto a cookie sheet (2 minutes) and
then into the oven, the timer must be set (1 min), and the cookies
must be baked (10 min.). (The oven can hold one dozen cookies at a
time.) While the cookies bake, there is time to clean the mixing
bowl (2 min.) Cookies are removed from the oven (negligible amount
of time) and cool for 5 minutes. (Baking and cooling do not require
a human operator.) It takes 2 minutes to pack a dozen cookies and
one minute to take payment for an order.
