ASSESSMENT TASK 1: Child Safe Policy WORD LIMIT: 1600 (40%) The compulsory Victorian Child Safe Standards (VCSS) were implemented in early childhood education and care settings, preschools and primary schools (among various other organizations) in 2016. Teachers therefore must have a keen understanding of the VCSS and the skills to implement the various components into their practice. As such, for AT1 you will draw on the unit materials to develop your knowledge and practice by creating a child safe policy that complies with the VCSS. Using the template below, carefully read and answer the questions in each section, keeping in mind that this is intended to be a concise yet informative policy document so keep your answers detailed yet succinct. While this is a policy document, it is also an academic assignment so you will need to accurately reference throughout the policy and provide a reference list at the end, just as you would any other essay. *A Guide to Deakin Hard Referencing Style can be found in the AT – Referencing Folder. You are expected to use your own words as much as possible, and refer to the *required readings outlined in each section these are the only references you will need to support your answers to each of the questions, meaning you are not required to include additional sources of literature. Due to the limited words available, a suggested word count per section/question has been included to help guide you. Please note that by using this template your Turnitin result will be higher than usual. Extension request applications are to be submitted via Formstack. You need to describe your reason and include supporting documentation. Requests need to be submitted at least 3 days before the due date (if not, a draft of your work to date needs to be included in your application). You will be notified of the outcome of your application within 3 working days. *if not please email Nicole or Sue Results/feedback for assignments submitted by the due date will be assessed and returned within 21 working days. Assignments submitted after the due date will then be marked and returned as soon as practical/possible. All questions about this task need to be posted on the Discussion Forum in the Questions about AT1 folder. This is to ensure all students have access to the same information, as we adhere to equitable teaching practice. A recorded AT walk through will describe in detail what is required in your responses to each section/question. A recorded online Blackboard Collaborate Q & A session will also be held.
